Second Chances Program

We know that there are a lot of big dogs out there that aren't nearly as fortunate as we are. In fact, the majority of dogs that are in rescue are over 75 pounds. Who knows why they get turned in? We've heard all the excuses, but mainly it's because bigger dogs require bigger hearts to love them (They have bigger hearts to give the love back too.) Some people can't handle living with a big dog for whatever reason, so they give them up. Many times these dogs have expensive health issues, and the previous family couldn't afford the treatment, or just didn't want to deal with it. Often they come from abuse filled homes where they thought that a big dog equals a nasty vicious guard dog, and either the dog was a big mush, and an utter failure, or did their job too well and became dangerous. Sometimes they are starving, because people don't realize the special nutritional needs of a giant breed dog. Usually though, it's just that the family didn't research about big dogs at all, and bought the cute puppy they saw on that movie or commercial, not bothering to find out what that puppy was like in real life, when it wouldn't be a puppy any more.

For whatever reason these dogs end up in rescue, the reasons that they're dumped are usually the same reasons they're so slow to get a new home. Some end up in foster care for years, going through medical treatment, gaining weight, are learning how to live inside, and things we spoiled dogs take for granted, like what windows are, and how stairs work. They are yearning for the forever home that they deserve, for their second chance at a new life.

The rescues that are giving those dogs a second chance are always in need of donations. Medical care is expensive, not to mention the standard dog things we all take for granted like a soft bed, healthy food, good collar, or even dishes to eat out of. Usually they can't afford those things and have to make do with throw away damaged goods from pet and grocery stores. Foster homes often have more than one foster dog living with them at a time, in addition to their own dogs. The things we've come to expect every day, are luxuries that they can't afford.

There is something that you can do to help. Every month Karma Charms will find a special dog in need and give them a brand new collar from our inventory. Not only that, every time we sell that model collar during the month, we'll donate 15% of the proceeds to that dog's rescue group! We'll then sponsor that dog's rescue group for that month, and you can donate your clean, gently used dog supplies, be they collars, leashes, beds, blankets, bowls, or whatever, and at the end of the month, all the supplies we've collected will be shipped to that rescue for them to use for other dogs that need them. If you want, you can also purchase directly from the site and tell us you want to donate that item to the rescue of the month.

We know that you all have big hearts, and we want to reward you for it. When we receive your donation, we will email you a coupon for 10%, 15%, 20%, or 25% off your next Karma Charms purchase. Just fill out this form, and send your donation to us along with that form.

Thank you so much for your generosity!
